Question by Lynsey B:
Newborn sleeping problems.?
My beautiful three day old newborn baby is not sleeping in his mosses basket. As soon as he is in our arms he goes to sleep but put him in his mosses basket and he wont have any of it. I have tried swaddling, not swaddling, just leaving him, rocking him nd yet still nothing. One thing we have noticed is that he seems to like laying on his side which is how he layed when he was in me. How can i safely lay my newborn on his side in his mosses basket. Please help me, i am in need of some sleep.

Nov 24th
Question by Jennifer M:
baby sleep problems?
I have an 11 week old baby. She all of a sudden will not take a nap during the day longer than 15 min. I know she is tired!! I lay her down and she is sound asleep. As soon as she hits the bed she is wide awake and crying! Other times I will put her in her crib and turn on her music she will fall asleep and then right away again she is up! What can I do to make this stop and she can get some rest again?
ALSO I HAVE NEVER HELD HER WHILE SHE SLEEPS OR SLEPT WITH HER. SO I DONT KNOW WHY THIS HAS STARTED?

Question by Sonja:
Breastfeeding problems with newborn?
My ideal friend had a baby this morning. This is her 4th. She has bf’d the other 3 for over a year each so is experienced. Her newborn is not sucking correctly with his tongue. How can she instruct him or position him to help him suck correctly?
The baby was born at home and she has called Le Leche League. They offered some tips on position but that did not seem to help and when she lets him suck on her finger his tongue doesn’t seem to be positioned right.

NEWBORN FEEDING PROBLEMS?
Nov 10th
Question by E Dawg:
newborn feeding problems?
my little one and I was not discharged from the hospital at the same time due to the fact that she was jaundiced from her being exposed to my blood at birth. she latched on well in the beginning, then for the next few nights after I was released she was put on formula because the didnt want her to get dehydrated from the UV lights she had to lay under. I would go to the hospital for a few feedings the couple nights she was away. but I was not there constantly and the formula caused some nipple confusion. now she is home… and shes all of a sudden not taking to the breast well at all. I am finally engorged as the milk is now flowing in instead of colostrum. is my engorement causing a problem maybe? I will keep trying, is there any recommendations for this?

BREASTFEEDING: I AM HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING BABY TO LATCH CORRECTLY?
Nov 10th
Question by onemviebuf:
Breastfeeding: I am having problems getting baby to latch correctly?
Apparently I messed up a bit between being at the hospital, with lactation help, and coming home. The baby is great at sucking but I am having trouble getting her mouth wide enough to properly latch on. Now my nipples are cracking badly and I dread each feeding but I am determined to breastfeed. I know that the cracks will disappear as soon as she latches correctly cause I did it at the hospital with help. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE ON PROBLEMS FEEDING INFANT.?
Nov 10th
Question by kmangel17:
Update on Problems feeding infant.?
Let me explain: I have done my reading on introducing baby food and what the signs are as to whether or not the infant is ready.
Let me clarify, I am not putting cereal in her bottle, you are not suppose do that (according to my Dr.), I am trying to spoon feed her. And when I do bottle feed her formula I hold the bottle, that’s common sense.
Also, she does fine with the cereal sometimes, and other times she just spits it out (sorry I did not clarify in the 1st question). I was just wondering if other moms had problems at first when introducing cereal.
She sees her Dr. next Wed. and I will be discussing the same things so I will update after that appointment.
Thanks you the replies so far!

HAS ANYONE HAD THEIR BABY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LETTUCE WHILE BREASTFEEDING?
Oct 29th
Question by Snowflake33:
Has anyone had their baby have problems with lettuce while breastfeeding?
My 11 week old son has been very fussy lately and spitting up a lot. I just recently started eating salads again and am wondering if this is the problem. I have read many things that say foods do not get to the milk that your baby gets but I do not know if I agree.

INFANT FEEDING/SLEEPING PROBLEMS?
Oct 29th
Question by kris_c_tina:
Infant feeding/sleeping problems?
I’m at a loss with a 6 week old. From day one he’s been a short, frequent eater. He only eats for 5-10 minutes and if he doesn’t fall asleep he will want to eat again anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours or so later. He’s very unpredictable. I can’t force him to eat for longer and it seems like it doesn’t matter how long it has been since his last feeding, 30 minutes or 5 hours, he only eats for that short duration.
I’m also concerned about his sleeping habits. He does not sleep well on his back. If I put him down drowsy or if I wait 20 minutes to be sure he’s in a deep sleep, when he’s put down he wakes up a short time after unless he sleeps on his stomach (I know, a no no) or he sleeps with or on me.
I have to send him to daycare in two weeks and I do not know how much pumped breastmilk to provide them or what to do about his sleeping.
Anyone else have a similar problem or any suggestions.
