Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA)
The goal of the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) is to unify and strengthen the profession of midwifery, thereby improving the health and well-being of women, babies and communities. In 1987 the Midwives Alliance created the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) to develop and maintain certification standards for the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential. The purpose in creating the CPM credential was to increase access to professional midwives in all settings. The Midwives Alliance of North America supports the National Birth Policy Coalition and its first initiative of The Big Push for Midwives Campaign, in its effort to work with partners in each state who are collaborating to fully integrate the Midwives Model of Care into existing health care systems. We support the Big Push for Midwives Campaign goal of increasing access to safe, satisfying and legal choices in maternity care for all mothers and babies.
